178—Al-Hasan ibn ʿAli ibn Zanjawayh al-Qattan al-Qazwini informed us in Rayy. He said: Sulayman ibn Yazid al-Muʿaddil narrated to us. He said: ʿAli ibn Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak al-Sanʿani narrated to us. He said: My maternal uncle, ʿAbd Allah ibn Abi Ghassan, narrated to us. He said: ʿArafah ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq al-Massisi, from Abu al-ʿAwwam, from Qatadah, concerning the verse:

“And among the people are those who dispute about Allah without knowledge.” [al-Hajj 22:3]

He said: “It refers to an adherent of religious innovation who calls others to his innovation.”
