1912 – Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Yaʿqūb informed me; he said: Muḥammad ibn Hārūn al-Ruwayyānī related to us; he said: Abū al-Rabīʿ narrated to us; he said: Abū ʿAwānah, from ʿUmar ibn Abī Salamah, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah, reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“The major sins are seven: the first of them is associating anything with Allah; killing a soul without just cause; consuming usury; consuming an orphan’s property in haste before he reaches maturity; fleeing from the battlefield; slandering chaste women ⦗1108⦘; and reverting to the Bedouin way of life.”
