1904 – ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Muḥammad reported to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq narrated to us; he said: al-Rabīʿ ibn Sulaymān narrated to us; he said: Ibn Wahb narrated to us; he said: Sulaymān informed me, from Thawr, from Abū al-Ghayth, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Avoid the seven sins that bring destruction.”
They asked, “What are they, O Messenger of Allah?”
He replied, “(1) Associating partners with Allah; (2) sorcery; (3) killing a soul that Allah has made inviolable, except with due right; (4) consuming usury; (5) consuming the property of an orphan; (6) turning one’s back on the day of battle; and (7) slandering chaste, unsuspecting, believing women.”
Al-Bukhārī and Muslim both recorded this narration.
