176—ʿAbd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn ʿAli al-Muqriʾ informed us: ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyad informed us; Yunus ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿla narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn Wahb informed us; Ibn Abi al-Zinad and Malik ibn Anas informed me, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-Aʿraj, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Leave me regarding what I have left unaddressed. Those before you were only destroyed by their excessive questioning and their disagreement with their prophets. So, whatever I have forbidden you, avoid it; and whatever I have commanded you, do of it what you are able.”
Al-Bukhari transmitted it.
١٧٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقْرِئُ , قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ , قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى , قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ , قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ , وَمَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ , عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ , فَإِنَّمَا أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ كَثْرَةُ سُؤَالِهِمْ , وَاخْتِلَافُهُمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ , فَمَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْهُ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ , وَمَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَأْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ» . أَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ
