1882 – Aḥmad b. ʿUbayd narrated to us; ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Mubashshir narrated to us; Muḥammad b. al-Muthannā narrated to us; Abū ʿĀmir ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿAmr narrated to us; Ibrāhīm b. Ṭahmān narrated to us, from ʿAlī b. ʿAbd al-Aʿlā, from Abū al-Nuʿmān, from Abū Waqāṣ, from Zayd b. Arqam, who traced it back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): “If a man makes a promise to his brother intending not to break it, yet he fails to appear at the appointed time, no sin is recorded against him.”
