1868 – Muhammad b. Ahmad reported to us; he said: ʿUthman reported to us; he said: Hanbal reported to us; he said: Abu ʿAbd Allah related to me; he said: Yahya b. Saʿid, from Habib b. al-Shahid, who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah say, “A man does not commit adultery while committing adultery and remain a believer, nor does he steal while stealing and remain a believer.” ʿAtaʾ remarked, “At that moment, faith withdraws from him.”
