1861 – ʿAbd al-Salām ibn ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar reported to us; he said: al-Ḥusayn ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr narrated to us; he said: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan narrated to us; he said: Abū Ḥamzah, from ʿĀṣim, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said:

“A fornicator is not a believer at the very moment he commits fornication, nor is a thief a believer at the moment he steals, nor is one who drinks wine a believer at the moment he drinks it. Faith is stripped from him and will not return until he repents; and when he repents, Allah accepts his repentance.”
