1848 – ʿUbayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us; al-Husayn ibn Ismaʿil informed us; he said: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Saʿid narrated to us; he said: Muʾammal ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us, from al-Hasan ibn Wahb al-Jumahi, who said:

“ʿAbd al-ʿAziz ibn Abi Rawwad came to us when he was still a young man, a little over twenty years old. He then stayed among us for forty or fifty years, and nothing of irjaʾ was ever attributed to him until his son ʿAbd al-Majid grew up and led him into irjaʾ. That son proved to be the most ill-omened child ever born in Islam for his father.”
