1831 – Muhammad ibn Ahmad narrated to us; he said: ʿUthman narrated to us; Hanbal said: al-Humaydi narrated to us; he said: Hamzah ibn al-Harith narrated to us, from his father, who said: “I heard a man question Abu Hanifah in the Sacred Mosque about someone who had said, ‘I bear witness that the Kaʿbah is a true sanctuary, yet I am uncertain whether it is this very one or not.’ He replied, ‘He is truly a believer.’ Then another man asked him, ‘I bear witness that Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah is a prophet, but I am not sure whether he is the one whose grave is in Medina or not.’ He answered, ‘He is truly a believer.’”
Hanbal said: al-Humaydi remarked, “Whoever says this has disbelieved,” and I heard Ahmad ibn Hanbal say ⦗1070⦘, “Whoever says this has disbelieved.”
