1823 — Muhammad informed us; Uthman informed us; Abu Umayyah narrated to us; he said: Ahmad ibn Dawud narrated to us; he said: Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from al-Ajlāh, who said: I said to al-Shaʿbī, “People claim that al-Hajjaj was a believer.” He replied, “They are right: a believer in jibt and taghut, and a disbeliever ⦗1066⦘ in Allah.”
