1810—Ahmad ibn Ubayd informed us. Muhammad ibn al-Husayn informed us. Ahmad ibn Zuhayr informed us. Khalid ibn Khidash informed us. Hammad ibn Zayd informed us, from Ayyub ⦗1062⦘: “Sa'id ibn Jubayr saw me sitting with Talq ibn Habib.”
Ayyub said: “In Basra, I never encountered anyone more devout than him, nor anyone more dutiful to his parents”—meaning Talq. He held the views of the Murji'ah, so Sa'id said, “Did I not see you sitting with him? Do not keep his company.”
Ayyub said: “By Allah, he was sincere in his counsel, though I had not sought his advice.”
