165—‘Isa ibn ‘Ali informed us. He said: ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us. He said: Dawud ibn ‘Amr informed us. He said: al-Walid ibn Muslim informed us.
166—By another chain, ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Makhlad informed us. He said: ‘Isa ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman informed us. He said: al-Walid informed us, from Ibn Jabir, from ‘Umayr ibn Hani’, that Mu‘awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan addressed them, saying: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘There will never cease to be a group from my Ummah standing firm upon Allah’s command. Neither the opposition of those who oppose them nor the abandonment of those who forsake them will harm them, until Allah’s command comes while they remain so.’”
‘Umayr ⦗124⦘ ibn Hani’ said: Malik ibn Yukhamir said, “I heard Mu‘adh ibn Jabal say, ‘They will be in al-Sham.’” Mu‘awiyah said, “This Malik al-Saksaki claims that he heard Mu‘adh ibn Jabal say, ‘They will be in al-Sham.’”
