1774—And Abd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Ali al-Muqri’ informed us. He said: al-Husayn ibn Isma‘il narrated to us. He said: Yusuf ibn Musa narrated to us. He said: Abu Usamah and Ya‘la ibn Ubayd narrated to us—the wording is that of Abu Usamah. They said: Isma‘il ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us. He said: Amir narrated to us. He said: A man came to Abd Allah ibn Amr and said to him, “Tell me what you have retained from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.” Abd Allah replied, “I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
‘The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe, and the emigrant is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden.’”
This is the wording of Isma‘il. Al-Bukhari transmitted it. Al-Mughirah’s wording is: “And the emigrant is the one who abandons evil.”
