1764—Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yusuf informed us: Isma‘il ibn Muhammad informed us: Abd al-Karim ibn al-Haytham narrated to us: Abu al-Yaman narrated to us: Shu‘ayb informed us: Abu al-Zinad narrated to us that Abd al-Rahman al-A‘raj told him that he heard Abu Hurayrah relate that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
“Solomon said, ‘Tonight I shall go around to ninety women, each of whom will bear a horseman who will strive in the way of Allah.’ His companion said to him, ‘Say: “If Allah wills.”’ But he did not say, ‘If Allah wills.’ He went around to them all, yet none of them conceived except one woman, who gave birth to half a man. By Him in Whose Hand is Muhammad’s soul, had he said, ‘If Allah wills,’ they would all have fought as horsemen in the way of Allah.”
Al-Bukhari transmitted it from Abu al-Yaman.
