1763—Muhammad ibn Abd Allah al-Ja‘fi informed us: Abd Allah ibn Ali al-Qati‘i informed us: Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Hunayni narrated to us: Mu‘alla ibn Rashid narrated to us: Wuhayb narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Muhammad, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet of Allah, Solomon, peace be upon him, had sixty wives. He said, “Tonight I shall go around to my wives, and every one of them will conceive and give birth to a horseman who will fight in the way of Allah.” He went around to his wives, but none of them gave birth except one woman, who gave birth to half a human being.
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Had Solomon made an exception, every one of them would have conceived and given birth to a horseman who would fight in the way of Allah.”
Al-Bukhari transmitted it from Mu‘alla, and Muslim from Abu al-Rabi‘ and Abu Kamil, from Hammad ibn Zayd, likewise.
