1754 — Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hafs al-Harawi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Salamah narrated to us. He said: I heard Abu Umar Abd al-Wahid ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Umar say: I heard Sahl ibn al-Mutawakkil ibn Hujr al-Shaybani say:
“I met more than a thousand teachers, all of whom said: ‘Faith is speech and action; it increases and decreases. The Quran is the uncreated speech of Allah.’ I wrote from them…”
١٧٥٤ - أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ الْهَرَوِيُّ، قَالَ: أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عُمَرَ عَبْدَ الْوَاحِدِ بْنَ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ الشَّيْبَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ: " أَدْرَكْتُ أَلْفَ أُسْتَاذٍ وَأَكْثَرَ، كُلُّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ: الْإِيمَانُ قَوْلٌ، وَعَمَلٌ يَزِيدُ وَيَنْقُصُ، وَالْقُرْآنُ كَلَامُ اللَّهِ غَيْرُ مَخْلُوقٍ وَكَتَبْتُ مِنْهُمْ "
