1740 — Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Tusi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub narrated to us. He said: Al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Bayruni narrated to us. He said: Abu Qudamah al-Jubayli narrated to us. He said: I heard ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Alqamah say: “I asked al-Awza‘i about faith: Does it increase? He replied, ‘Yes, until it becomes like mountains.’ I said, ‘And does it decrease?’ He replied, ‘Yes, until nothing remains of it.’ Al-‘Abbas was asked, ‘Do you hold the same view as al-Awza‘i?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’”
