1739 — Muhammad ibn al-Husayn narrated to us. Ahmad ibn Sa‘id al-Thaqafi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Dhuhli narrated to us. He said: Fudayk ibn Sulayman narrated to us. He said: Al-Awza‘i was asked about faith, and he replied: “Faith increases and decreases. Whoever claims that faith increases but does not decrease is an adherent of religious innovation.”
