157—Al-Hasan ibn ‘Uthman informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn al-Husayn informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Ghalib narrated to us. He said: ‘Affan narrated to us. He said: Musa ibn Khalaf narrated to us. He said: Yahya ibn Abi Kathir narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Sallam, from his grandfather Mamtur, from al-Harith al-Ash‘ari, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Indeed, Allah has commanded me to adhere to the congregation, and whoever departs from the congregation by a handspan has cast off the bond of Islam from his neck.”
