1725 — And ‘Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Bakr informed us: al-Hasan ibn ‘Uthman informed us; Ya‘qub ibn Sufyan narrated to us; Hajjaj narrated to us; Hammad narrated to us, from ‘Asim, from Abu Salih, from Ka‘b, who said: “Whoever establishes the prayer, gives zakah, listens and obeys has attained the middle degree of faith. But whoever loves for Allah’s sake, hates for Allah’s sake, gives for Allah’s sake, and withholds for Allah’s sake has completed faith.” Abu ‘Awanah added: “and obeys for Allah’s sake and listens for Allah’s sake.”
