1720 — We were informed by Isa ibn Ali; Abdullah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us, who said ⦗1020⦘: Abu Nasr al-Tammar narrated to us; Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far, from his father, from his grandfather, Umayr ibn Habib ibn Khumashah.

1721 — Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Basir also informed us; Uthman ibn Ahmad narrated to us, who said: Hanbal ibn Ishaq narrated to us, who said: Al-Hajjaj ibn al-Minhal, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Khuza'i, and Dawud ibn Shabib narrated to us. They said: Hammad narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far, from his grandfather Umayr ibn Habib. The wording is that of Abu Nasr: “Faith increases and decreases.” He was asked, “What constitutes its increase and decrease?” He replied, “When we remember Allah, praise Him, and declare His transcendence, that is its increase; and when we become heedless and forget, that is its decrease.”
