1702—ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUmar narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā ibn ʿUmar narrated to us; he said: ʿAlī ibn Ḥarb narrated to us; he said: Abū ʿĀmir narrated to us; he said: Sufyān narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Laylā al-Kindī, from Ḥujr ibn ʿAdī. And Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn al-Qāsim narrated to me; Ismāʿīl ibn Muḥammad narrated to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us; he said: Sufyān narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Laylā al-Kindī, from Ḥujr ibn ʿAdī—that is, al-Kindī—who saw a nephew of his come out of the privy. He said, “Hand me that sheet from the window.” He then read it and said: ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib narrated to us: “Purification is half of faith.”
