1697 — Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us; al-Husayn ibn Isma'il informed us. He said: Sa'id ibn Yahya narrated to us; he said: My father narrated to us; he said: Malik ibn Mighwal narrated to us, from Zubayd, from Murrah, from Abd Allah, who said:
“Indeed, Allah has apportioned your character traits among you just as He has apportioned your provision among you. Allah grants worldly goods to those He loves and to those He dislikes, but He grants faith only to those He loves. So whoever is unable to strive through this night, to spend this wealth, or to fight this enemy, then let him increase in saying, ‘Glory be to Allah, and all praise is for Allah,’ for these are more beloved to Allah than a mountain of gold and silver.”
١٦٩٧ - أنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، أنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ: نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: نا أَبِي قَالَ: نا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَسَّمَ أَخْلَاقَكُمْ كَمَا قَسَّمَ بَيْنَكُمْ أَرْزَاقَكُمْ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعْطِي الدُّنْيَا مَنْ يُحِبُّ وَمَنْ يُبْغِضُ، وَلَا يُعْطِي الْإِيمَانَ إِلَّا مَنْ يُحِبُّ، فَمَنْ ضَعُفَ عَنْ هَذَا اللَّيْلِ أَنْ يُكَابِدَهُ، وَعَنْ هَذَا الْمَالِ أَنْ يُنْفِقَهُ، وَعَنْ هَذَا الْعَدُوِّ أَنْ يُقَاتِلَهُ فَلْيَسْتَكْثِرْ مِنْ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ؛ فَإِنَّهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ جَبَلِ ذَهَبٍ وَفِضَّةٍ»
