1691 — Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn al-‘Abbas narrated to us: Yahya ibn Muhammad narrated to us; al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us; Sa‘id ibn Sulayman narrated to us; Isma‘il ibn Zakariyya narrated to us; Layth narrated to us, from Mujahid, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said:

“Love for Allah’s sake, hate for Allah’s sake, be loyal for Allah’s sake, and oppose for Allah’s sake. For you cannot attain Allah’s friendship except through this, and you will not taste the sweetness of faith ⦗1007⦘ until you are so."

Then he recited:

“On that Day, close friends will be enemies to one another, except the righteous.” [Surah al-Zukhruf 43:67]

And he recited:

“You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger.” [Surah al-Mujadilah 58:22]

It has already been related from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: “Purification is half of faith.” Thus, these are sixty qualities.
