1687—Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Yaʿqub informed us: Muhammad ibn Harun informed us; Ishaq ibn Shahin narrated to us; Khalid ibn ʿAbd Allah narrated to us, from al-Ajlah, from Abu al-Duha, from al-ʿAbbas ibn ʿAbd al-Muttalib, who said:

“We can recognize the rancor on the faces of some of your Companions because of incidents in which we have been involved with them.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Have they done so?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “They do not truly believe—or have no love of faith—until they love you for the sake of Allah and His Messenger. Does Sulaym, a subtribe of Murad, hope for my intercession, while Banu ʿAbd al-Muttalib do not hope for it?”
