1683 — Kūhī ibn al-Hasan informed us; Ahmad ibn al-Qasim ibn Nasr informed us. He said: Al-Hasan ibn Hammad informed us; Isma‘il ibn Ibrahim informed us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from a man of the Aslam tribe, from his father, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Embrace Islam and you will be safe.”
He said: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is Islam?” He replied: “That you submit yourself to Allah, Most High, and that the Muslims be safe from your tongue and your hand.”
He said: “Which Islam is best?” He replied: “Faith.” He said: “And what is faith?” He replied: “That you believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, His messengers, and the resurrection after death.”
He said: “Which deeds are best?” He replied: “Migration.” He said: “And what is migration?” He replied: “That you forsake evil.” I said: “Which migration is best?” He replied: “Jihad.” I said: “And what is jihad?” He replied: “That you fight the disbelievers when you encounter them, without misappropriating the spoils or showing cowardice.”
He said: “Then there are two deeds that are among the best and most complete of deeds”—three times—“an accepted Hajj or an umrah.”
