1664 — Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us; al-Hasan ibn Isma‘il said: al-Hasan ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Shu‘ayb al-Harrani informed us; Muhammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Abd Allah ibn Abi Umamah, from Abd Allah ibn Ka‘b ibn Malik, from Abu Umamah, who said:

The Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke in his presence about worldly life, and he said: “Will you not listen? Indeed, wearing rough and simple clothing is part of faith; wearing rough and simple clothing is part of faith.”
