137— Ali ibn Muhammad informed us; al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us; Ya'qub narrated to us; Abd Allah ibn Salih narrated to us; al-Layth narrated to me; Yunus narrated to me, from Ibn Shihab, who said:
“It reached us from a number of people of knowledge that they used to say: ‘Holding fast to the sunnah is salvation. Knowledge is taken away swiftly; thus, the flourishing of knowledge is the stability of religion and worldly life, while the loss of all of that lies in the loss of knowledge.’”
