134— Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Bakr informed us; al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us; Ya'qub ibn Sufyan narrated to us; Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us; Rashdin ibn Sa'd narrated to us; Uqayl narrated to me, from Ibn Shihab, ⦗106⦘ from Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, who said:

“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and those entrusted with authority after him established practices. Adhering to them affirms the Book of Allah, completes obedience to Him, and strengthens one upon the religion of Allah. No one has the right to alter or replace them, nor to give consideration to the opinion of anyone who opposes them. Whoever follows the example they set is rightly guided; whoever seeks insight through them sees clearly; and whoever opposes them and follows a path other than that of the believers, Allah will leave him to what he has chosen and will cast him into Hell—an evil destination.”
