130— Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman informed us; Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; Ali ibn Ishkab al-Kabir narrated to us; Abu Badr Shuja' narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn Mihran, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Abu al-Ahwas, ⦗105⦘ from Abdullah, who said: “Let none of you make a man the authority for his religion: if he believes, he believes; and if he disbelieves, he disbelieves. If you must follow an example, then follow one who has died, for the living are not safe from tribulation.”
