127—Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Bakr informed us; al-Hasan ibn Uthman narrated to us; Ya'qub ibn Sufyan narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Uqbah al-Shaybani narrated to us; Abu Ishaq narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from Yahya ibn Abi Amr, from Abd Allah ibn al-Daylami, who said:

“The first loss of the religion is the abandonment of the sunnah. The religion disappears sunnah by sunnah, just as a rope loses its strength strand by strand.”
