1532—ʿIsa ibn ʿAli informed us: ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us; ʿAli ibn al-Jaʿd told us: al-Masʿudi informed us, from al-Qasim, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Masʿud:

“Indeed, Allah frequently mentions prayer in the Quran: ‘and those who carefully maintain their prayers’ [Surah al-Maʿarij 70:34], and ‘those who are constant in their prayer’ [Surah al-Maʿarij 70:23].” He said, “That means observing them at their prescribed times.” He said, “We hold that it must not be abandoned.” He said, “For abandoning it is disbelief.”
