1529 — Al-Hasan ibn Uthman informed us; Ismail ibn Muhammad informed us; he said: Ahmad ibn Mansur narrated to us; he said: Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us; he said: Mamar informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah, from Ibn Abbas, who said: “When Umar was stabbed, he fell unconscious.” He said: “A man then said, ‘Nothing will rouse him except the prayer.’” He said: “So we said, ‘The prayer, O Commander of the Believers.’” He said: “He opened his eyes and asked, ‘Have the people prayed?’ We replied, ‘Yes.’” ⦗907⦘ He said: “Indeed, no one who neglects the prayer has any share in Islam”—or, at times, he said: “who abandons the prayer.” Then he prayed while his wound was gushing blood.”
