1471 — ʿIsa ibn ʿAli informed us; ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz informed us. He said: Hudbah ibn Khalid narrated to us; he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from ʿAmmar ibn Abi ʿAmmar, from Ibn ʿAbbas: Before having a pulpit made, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would deliver his sermons beside a tree trunk. When he had the pulpit made, he moved to it, and the trunk moaned. So he embraced it, and it became still. He said: “Had I not embraced it, it would have continued to moan until the Day of Resurrection.”
Its chain of transmission is sound according to Muslim’s criteria, and he should have included it.
