120—Isa ibn Ali informed us; Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us; Shayban ibn Farrukh narrated to us; Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, who said: A freedman of Ibn Mas'ud narrated to me:

Abu Mas'ud entered upon Hudhayfah and said, “Give me your counsel.”

He replied, “Has certainty not yet come to you?”

He said, “Indeed it has, by the might of my Lord.”

He said, “Then know that true misguidance is to recognize as good what you once disapproved of, and to disapprove of what you once recognized as good. Beware of inconsistency in the religion of Allah Most High, for the religion of Allah is one.”
