Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Yaʿqub reported to us: Muhammad ibn Harun al-Ruyani reported to us: Muhammad ibn Bashshar reported to us: Yahya ibn Kathir Abu Ghassan reported to us. Abu Hafs ibn al-ʿAla said: I heard Nafiʿ relate ⦗878⦘ from Ibn ʿUmar that “the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to deliver his sermon beside a tree trunk. When he had a pulpit made and moved to it, the trunk moaned. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then came to it and stroked it.” Al-Bukhari transmitted it from Yahya.
