1451 — Isa ibn Ali informed us. Abdullah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us. He said ⦗867⦘: Muhammad ibn Zunbur narrated to us. He said: Abd al-Aziz ibn Abi Hazim narrated to us, from Yazid ibn al-Had, from Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather: During the expedition to Tabuk, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, rose in the night and prayed. A group of his Companions gathered behind him to guard him. When he had finished praying and turned to them, he said:

“Tonight Allah has granted me five things that no one before me was granted. As for me, I have been sent to all people, whereas those before me were sent only to their own people. I have been granted victory over the enemy through awe: even if there were a month’s journey between myself and him, he would be filled with fear of me. All war booty has been made lawful for me, whereas those before me regarded consuming it as too sacred, and they would burn it. The earth has been made for me places of prayer and a means of purification: wherever the time for prayer overtakes me, I perform dry ablution and pray. Those before me, however, prayed only in their churches and synagogues. And the fifth—what a great thing it is! I was told, ‘Ask, for every prophet has asked.’ But I have deferred my request until the Day of Resurrection; it is for you and for everyone who testifies that there is no god but Allah.”
