1444 — Isa ibn Ali informed us; Abdullah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us. He said: Ali ibn al-Mundhir narrated to us. He said: Ibn Fudayl narrated to us. He said: Abu Malik al-Ashja'i narrated to us, from Rib'i, from Hudhayfah—Ḥāʾ.
1445 — Ahmad ibn Ubayd informed us; Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Mubashshir informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us. He said: Muhammad Abu Nu'aym narrated to us. He said: Abu Awanah narrated to us; Abu Malik al-Ashja'i narrated to us, from Rib'i, from Hudhayfah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“We have been favored over other people in three respects: the whole earth has been made a place of prayer for us; its soil has been made a means of purification for us; and our rows have been made like the rows of the angels. I have also been given the final verses of Surat al-Baqarah from a treasure beneath the Throne; they were not given to anyone before me, nor will anyone after me be given them.”
The wording is that of Ibn Awanah’s hadith. Muslim transmitted it through Fudayl’s narration.
