1440 — Isa ibn Ali informed us; Abdullah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi informed us. He said: Abdullah ibn Mutiʿ narrated to us. He said: Ismaʿil ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, from al-ʿAlaʾ, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace—Ḥāʾ.
1441 — And Ubaydullah ibn Ahmad informed us; al-Husayn ibn Ismaʿil informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil ibn Yusuf al-Sulami narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim ibn Hamzah narrated to us. He said: Abd al-Aziz narrated to us, from al-ʿAlaʾ, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“I have been favored above the prophets in six ways: I have been endowed with concise yet comprehensive speech; I have been aided by awe; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me; the earth has been made for me a means of purification and a place of prayer; I have been sent to all creation; and I am the Seal of the Prophets.”
Here ends the wording of Ismaʿil’s hadith. Abd al-Aziz added: “My likeness and that of the prophets is like that of a man who built a palace, beautifying and perfecting it, except for the place of one brick. People then walked around the palace, marveled at its construction, and said, ‘How beautiful this palace would be if only this brick were put in place!’ I am that brick.”
Muslim transmitted it.
