1427 — ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn Makhlad informed us; he said: Ja‘far ibn Mukram narrated to us; he said: Rawh ibn ‘Ubadah narrated to us; he said: Sa‘id ibn Abi ‘Arubah narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Abu al-‘Aliyah, who said: The cousin of your Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace—meaning Ibn ‘Abbas—narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“On the night I was taken by night, I saw Moses: a dark-complexioned, tall, curly-haired man, as though he were one of the men of Shanu’ah. I saw Jesus: a man of medium build, ruddy and fair-complexioned, with straight hair. I saw Malik, the keeper of the Fire, and the Antichrist, among the signs which Allah showed him. So do not be in doubt concerning his meeting.” That is, he met Moses on the night he was taken by night.
“And We made it a guidance for the Children of Israel” [17:2]. He said: “Allah made it a guidance for the Children of Israel.”
Al-Bukhari transmitted it through Yazid ibn Zuray‘, and Muslim through Shu‘bah and Shayban, from Qatadah.
