1419 — Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Husayn informed us. Ja‘far ibn Ahmad ibn Ka‘b al-Khazzaz informed us. He said: ‘Ali ibn Harb narrated to us. He said: Ja‘far ibn ‘Awn narrated to us. He said: Sufyan al-Thawri narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from ‘Amr ibn Maymun, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud, who said:

While the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was prostrating, with some men of Quraysh around him, ‘Uqbah ibn Abi Mu‘ayt came carrying the entrails of a slaughtered camel and threw them upon the back of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He did not raise his head until Fatimah came and removed them from his back, invoking Allah against those who had done this.

When he had finished, and he would often repeat a supplication three times, he said three times: “O Allah, deal with Quraysh! O Allah, deal with Quraysh!” Then he said: “O Allah, deal with Abu Jahl ibn Hisham, ‘Utbah ibn Rabi‘ah, Shaybah ibn Rabi‘ah, al-Walid ibn ‘Utbah, Umayyah ibn Khalaf, and ‘Uqbah ibn Abi Mu‘ayt.”

‘Abd Allah said: “I saw them slain in the well of Badr.” Both recorded it.
