1416 — Ahmad ibn ‘Umar ibn Muhammad informed us. He said: ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ziyad informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Faris narrated to me. He said: Bahlul ibn Muwarriq, Abu Ghassan, narrated to us from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Dhi’b, from Sa‘id ibn Khalid al-Qarizi, from Rabi‘ah ibn ‘Ibad:
“I saw Abu Lahab at ‘Ukaz, following the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. ⦗840⦘ He was saying, ‘O people, this man is a renegade, so do not let him turn you away from the religion of your forefathers.’
“The people were gathering around him as he followed behind the Prophet, while we boys followed him. It is as though I can see him now: cross-eyed, the fairest and most handsome of men.”
١٤١٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَارِسٍ، قَالَ: ثنا بُهْلُولُ بْنُ مُوَرِّقِ أَبُو غَسَّانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْقَارِضِيِّ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عِبَادٍ " رَأَيْتُ أَبَا لَهَبٍ بِعُكَاظَ وَهُوَ يَتْبَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ ⦗٨٤٠⦘، فَقَالَ: يَأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ هَذَا فِرْعَوْنُ فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمْ عَنْ دِينِ آبَائِكُمْ، وَهُمْ يَلُوذُونَ بِهِ وَهُوَ عَلَى أَثَرِهِ وَنَحْنُ نُتْبِعُهُ الْغِلْمَانَ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ أَحْوَلَ أَبْيَضَ النَّاسِ وَأَجْمَلَهُمْ "
