Ubayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad informed us. He said: Ali ibn Ibrahim al-Mustamli related to us. He said: al-Sarraj related to us. He said: Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Bayan related to us. He said: Mu‘awiyah ibn Abd Allah ibn Mu‘awiyah ibn Asim ibn al-Mundhir ibn al-Zubayr, Abu Abd Allah, related to us. He said: My father informed me:

“We were sitting with Hisham ibn Urwah when Ibrahim ibn Abi Yahya al-Madani was mentioned to him. They said, ‘O Abu al-Mundhir, he has an excellent command of hadith ⦗827⦘.’ He asked, ‘A client of the Aslam tribe?’ They replied, ‘Yes, except that he is a proponent of divine decree.’ Hisham ibn Urwah then said, ‘May Allah curse a religion older than I am.’”
