1379 — ʿUbayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us. He said: al-Husayn ibn Ismaʿil informed us. He said: ʿAli ibn Muslim narrated to us. He said: Zafir narrated to us. He said: Ibn al-Mubarak informed us, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Muslim, a man from the people of Marw, who said:
“I used to sit with Ibn Sirin, but I abandoned his company for a group of Muʿtazilah. Then I saw in a dream that I was among people carrying the Prophet’s funeral bier.”
Malik said, “With whom did you sit? You are with people who wish to bury what the Prophet ﷺ brought.”
١٣٧٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ: ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: ثنا زَافِرٌ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَرْوَ قَالَ: «كُنْتُ أُجَالِسُ ابْنَ سِيرِينَ فَتَرَكْتُ مُجَالَسَتَهُ إِلَى قَوْمٍ مِنَ الْمُعْتَزِلَةِ فَرَأَيْتُ فِيَ الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي مَعَ قَوْمٍ يَحْمِلُونَ جِنَازَةَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ» فَقَالَ مَالِكٌ: «مَعَ مَنْ جَلَسْتَ؟ إِنَّكَ مَعَ قَوْمٍ يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَدْفِنُوا مَا جَاءَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ»
