Sharh Usul Itiqad Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-JamaahAl-Lalakai

1367 — Ja‘far ibn Nuṣayr al-Khuldī mentioned: “I heard Abu al-‘Abbās ibn Masrūq and others say: When Abu al-Ḥārith al-Muḥāsibī died, al-Ḥārith was in need of less than a dirham—or words to that effect—for dependents and daughters under his care. Yet his father left behind wealth, landed property, furnishings, and many valuable possessions. He accepted nothing from it. When he was asked about this, he said: ‘It has been narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: “The people of two separate religions do not inherit from one another,”’ or words to that effect. His father held the doctrine of divine decree.”
