1339 — Muhammad ibn Uthman ibn Muhammad informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn Mansur narrated to us; he said: Nasr ibn Ali narrated to us; he said: Muslim ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; he said: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us:

A man offered another man a reward to cross a river. He crossed it, and when he drew near the bank, he said, “By Allah, I have crossed!” The man said to him, “Say: ‘What Allah wills.’” He replied, “Whether He wills or does not will.” Then the earth swallowed him up.
