1336 — Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Yaqub informed us; Dalaj ibn ⦗801⦘ Ahmad informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn Ali al-Abbar related to us. He said: I asked Musab al-Zubayri about Ibn Abi Dhib and said to him: They narrated to us from Abu Asim that he said, “Was Ibn Abi Dhib a proponent of divine decree?” He replied, “Allah forbid! Rather, during the time of al-Mahdi, they seized, beat, and banished the proponents of divine decree. Then some people who held this view came to him, sat with him, and sought protection through him from being beaten. So some people said, ‘They only sat with him because he held the view of divine decree.’ Yet someone I trust has told me that he never spoke about it at all.”
