1334 — Abd al-Wahid ibn Muhammad al-Farisi informed us; Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yaqub informed us; my grandfather, Yaqub ibn Shaybah, related to me; Said ibn Dawud al-Zubayri related to us; Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad al-Darawardi—by Allah—related to me:
We were attending the study circle of Muhammad ibn Ishaq, learning from him, when he dozed off briefly. He then said, “I have just seen a dream: it was as though a man entered the mosque carrying a rope, placed it around a donkey’s neck, and led it out. Before long, a man entered the mosque carrying a rope and placed it around Ibn Ishaq’s neck. He led him away to the ruler, who had him whipped.”
Ibn Abi al-Zubayri said: “On account of divine decree.”
١٣٣٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفَارِسِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي جَدِّي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ: ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي وَاللَّهِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، قَالَ: كُنَّا فِي مَجْلِسِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ نَتَعَلَّمُ، فَأَغْفَى إِغْفَاءَةً، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ فِيَ الْمَنَامِ السَّاعَةَ، كَأَنَّ إِنْسَانًا دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَمَعَهُ حَبْلٌ، فَوَضَعَهُ فِي عُنُقِ حِمَارٍ فَأَخْرَجَهُ، فَمَا لَبِثْنَا أَنْ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ رَجُلٌ وَمَعَهُ حَبْلٌ حَتَّى وَضَعَهُ فِي عُنُقِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ فَأَخْرَجَهُ فَذَهَبَ بِهِ إِلَى السُّلْطَانِ فَجَلَدَهُ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ: مِنْ أَجْلِ الْقَدَرِ
