1328 — Ahmad informed us. Muhammad informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn Zuhayr narrated to us. He said: Abu Muhammad al-Tamimi narrated to me. He said: Abu Mushir narrated to us. He said: Abd Allah ibn Salim al-Ash'ari, one of the people of Homs, narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim ibn Abi Ablah narrated to me. He said:

I was with Ubadah ibn Nusayy when someone came to him and said, “The Commander of the Believers—meaning Hisham—has cut off Ghilan’s hand and both his feet, and crucified him.”

He asked, “What do you say?”

He replied, “He has indeed done so.”

Ubadah said, “By Allah, he has correctly applied the proper judgment and the Sunnah in his case. I shall certainly write to him and commend him for it.”
