1322 — Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Ali informed us; Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Ala informed us. He said: Abd al-Wahhab al-Warraq narrated to us; he said: Yazid ibn Harun informed us; he said: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, who said:
We were circumambulating the Ka'bah with Tawus when we passed by Ma'bad al-Juhani. Tawus was told, “This is Ma'bad, the one who speaks concerning divine decree.” Tawus said to him, “Are you the one who fabricates lies against Allah concerning that of which you have no knowledge?” He replied, “They are lying about me.”
We then entered upon Ibn Abbas, and Tawus said to him, “Abu al-Abbas, what of those who speak concerning divine decree?” He said, “Show me some of them.” Sani' asked, “What would you do?” He replied, “I would put my hands upon his head and crush his neck.” It has also previously been related from him: “I would thrust my hands into his eyes and gouge them out, and we would not spare him.” All of this is not done to Muslims; rather, it is done only to disbelievers.
